Britain’s first electric car forecourt nears completion with 30 chargers and ‘Best of British’ retail partners

NOW OPEN – See The Future of Electric car Charging

The first of a £1billion nationwide network of ‘electric forecourts’ will open before the end of the year in Essex

A 2.5-acre site is due to be completed in Braintree with links to Stansted Airport and the M11 motorway

There will be 24 rapid electric car chargers and 6 Tesla Superchargers specifically for Tesla cars

It will also feature a state-of-the-art two-storey building with shops, a chill-out area and EV education centre

Today, operator Gridserve announced its ‘Best of British’ retail partners – including WH Smith, Costa Coffee and Booths supermarkets – ahead of the first forecourt’s completion in November.

Each location will have a building on site for drivers to use for the 20 to 30 minutes their vehicles are charging. The Braintree store will be two storeys and have WH Smith and Costa Coffee on site

Planning applications for two additional forecourts in Uckfield and Norwich East have recently been submitted.

More detail, including pictures of the construction site, can be seen on the This is Money website.
